**Israeli Protesters Bring Tel Aviv to a Standstill, Demand Agreement for Hostage Release**

Massive protests erupted in Tel Aviv as demonstrators flooded the streets, demanding the government secure a deal for the release of Israeli captives. The protest brought much of the city to a halt, with citizens calling for immediate action to free those being held hostage. The demonstrators, representing a wide range of political views, united in their calls for the government to prioritize negotiations and ensure the safe return of the captives. The protest underscored the growing pressure on Israeli leadership to find a resolution to the crisis.

An estimated 750,000 Israelis have flooded the streets in one of the largest protests in the country's history, calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to negotiate a deal for the release of captives still held in Gaza.

This record turnout follows the Israeli Army's recent announcement that it had recovered the bodies of six captives from a tunnel in southern Gaza.

Family members of Israeli captives and their advocates are blaming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government for failing to secure a truce that would facilitate their release.

Over 100 captives are still held in Gaza, with the Israeli military estimating that about one-third may be deceased. In November, Hamas released 105 captives in exchange for 240 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

The captives were taken following the October 7 attack in southern Israel, which resulted in at least 1,139 deaths. Since then, Israeli military operations have led to over 40,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza and extensive destruction across the coastal enclave, drawing widespread global criticism. Additionally, more than 600 people have been killed in the occupied West Bank, and nearly 10,000 Palestinians have been detained.
